Defiant sounds interesting, I want to know more about the game!
If you want to know more about Defiant, download our free Quickstart! It covers all the basic concepts of the game and setting, along with the game rules needed to start playing Defiant. This guide should be more than enough to play a couple of mini-Episodes with your friends and get to know the game.
In Defiant Awakening, you will find a short Chronicle, taking place in the Bridgewood Boulevard Province, a few months before the events described in a main Defiant rulebook. You will be able to play as fallen Angels and Daeva, the ancient gods, and choose from several character creation options (no pre-designed characters). Aside from many NPCs and locations described in the book, there are six Threads and many Story Hooks to help the GM run the Chronicle without much effort. And if you get attached to your Characters, you can continue playing them in the main rulebook Chronicle.

What's new in the printed rulebook, compared to the one available on DriveThruPRG?
While all of the rulebook’s original content is the same in the Kickstarter version, we are changing the layout to make it a better fit for print. We are definitely sticking with the current style of illustrations, but we will add many new pieces. For the past few months, we have also been working on improving some of the illustrations we found not quite as good as we wanted them to be.
The additional Chapter of the rulebook will focus on two new, optional game mechanics, currently called “Perks” and “Achievements”. “Perks” are additional bonuses and backgrounds that you can pick during Character Creation. It might be a venture in the city, a friend who’d do anything for the Character, someone owing you a debt, etc. “Achievements” also present you with new shiny things for the Player Characters but are obtainable only after you manage to meet a unique requirement. You might think of them as the closest Defiant will get to traditional experience mechanics.

I’ve already bought a Defiant Core Rulebook in PDF on DriveThru. Which pledge should I choose?
For all of you who supported Defiant from the beginning and bought the book on DriveThruRPG, we have good news. The digital version of the new Defiant Core Rulebook (with the new layout etc.) will be available to you for free on your DriveThru account. Moreover, the version you’ve already purchased will be updated with the additional Chapter we’ve already announced (the Perks and Achievement mechanics).
However, if you would like to have the beautiful hardcover printed Defiant Core Rulebook or if you’re interested in getting the unlocked stretch goals, you should consider backing the campaign.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
