New Year, New Defiant Supplement

As some of you might already know from our Discord or the Reign & Legacy Kickstarter Campaign, I’ve been working on a side project - a new Defiant supplement - for over a year now. And today is finally the day I can share it with the world! If you want to add a bit of spice to your Defiant Chronicles, have a look at our newest release, now available on DriveThruRPG:
Defiant Guide to Orgies
It’s over 90 pages of ideas, advice, and GM rules on including lewd parties and erotic events in Defiant Episodes, along with six ready-to-use examples. It’s actually the longest supplement we’ve published so far!
What started as an answer to a question asked by one of the Defiant GMs, then turned into a warm-up exercise I used whenever I was getting ready to write a longer text for the game, has now become a full-fledged book. 🙂

While the topic of the supplement is clearly mature, the book itself should be fine to read in any situation when you’d be okay with reading the main Defiant Rulebook - there’s no explicit imagery or graphic language used.
Other news
We’re still working on the last two elements that each of you should receive from the campaign. The final text for the Character Creation Cards will be ready within a month or so (we’re also including all the cards from Defiant Reign and Defiant Legacy in the print-on-demand file). Once the text is ready, we’ll work on creating a DriveThruRPG version of the file. We’ll also have news on getting the cards outside the US, where the shipping costs make buying the printed cards from DTRPG too expensive.
As for Defiant Genesis (all the supplements from the campaign packed into a single print-on-demand layout), we've just finished minor changes to all the texts. We were doing fact-checking and adjustments so that there are no discrepancies between the old books and Defiant Reign & Legacy. I’ll be creating the print layout with the modified text around early March, along with the books from the new KS campaign. Then we’ll upload it to DriveThruRPG, and you’ll be able to order the prin-on-demand version.

The new Defiant Reign & Legacy Kickstarter campaign has reached its half-point! I know that many of you have already backed it, but for all those still on the fence, here's some info:
The campaign is going well! The supplements were funded within the first few hours, and we've been focusing on the stretch goals since. All Backers will receive a bunch of new digital mini-supplements along with their rewards. This time, the ebooks will focus on New Hethlon and its many Provinces.

So far, the following supplements have been unlocked:
- Defiant New Hethlon
- Defiant Northbank Heights
- Defiant Greendale Gardens
Additionally, all Backers will receive a high-resolution, printable map of New Hethlon, and we'll create an online Holding Generator. Quite a few stretch goals are still waiting to be unlocked, including guest writers sharing their visions of Defiant Provinces!
If you're our previous Backer and are interested in supporting the campaign, here's a cheat sheet with the reward tiers that might fit you best:
Reign & Legacy (print)
If you've already got Defiant RPG in print and want to own two new beautiful hardcover supplements but do not care for any additional stuff, that's your basic pledge level. You get the two new books along with digital stretch goals, and you're all set.
Deluxe Reign & Legacy (print)
It's the same as above, but for an additional €18 (around $20), you get a custom set of Defiant Dice, a dice tray, and a printed deck of Character Creation Cards, along with all the new cards that come with the Reign & Legacy supplements (around 100 cards in total). Combine this with the core rulebook you already own, and you've got yourself a complete set!
Reign & Legacy (digital)
If you're only interested in the digital versions of the books, this reward tier is for you. Sure, those pdfs will be available later, but at a slightly higher price and without the mini-supplements, which you'd have to buy separately. Plus, pledging now helps us unlock new stretch goals, which in turn means you get even more stuff (you've all been to Kickstarter, you know how this works).
Ok, that's about all the "marketing talk" I can muster. I hope that all of you will come to support the new campaign. But if not - it's ok; we'd love to have you on board, but there's a plethora of reasons you might not be interested or able to participate, and it's totally fine! Either way, without you, there would be no new Kickstarter. Thank you!

We had been holding on with this announcement until we could confirm all the details, but now we can finally share it will all of you. In about a month or so, we will start a new Defiant Kickstarter campaign for two major supplements: Defiant Reign and Defiant Legacy!

We're really excited about this! Most of the material for both supplements is already written (though it needs editing, some additional writing, and more art). The books are designed to go together, focusing on the different sides of Defiant Royal's life.
Defiant Reign deals with all the political aspects of being a supernatural ruler in the world of Defiant. The book introduces new Court positions, rules for using political factions in the game, an in-depth description of Defiant laws and the justice system, and a guide to creating your own Provinces and Domains. The players are treated to new Personal, Court, and Marital Themes focused on leadership, schemes, politics, and intrigues.
The life of a Defiant ruler is never only about politics. Defiant Legacy focuses on the more private and intimate part of royal life. The supplement explores the intricate dynamics of raising heirs, royal marriages, matchmaking, weddings, and debuts. Additionally, Defiant Legacy enables players to choose new Marital Themes, offering them the unique role of a Consort—an important figure in the world of aristocracy.
The previous Defiant campaign was our first Kickstarter, and we had to make a lot of compromises when it came to additional goals and physical rewards. Now that we are more experienced, we can finally give you all the things you've been asking for.Defiant dice? Check. Printed cards with both the new and old Themes? Check! Plus, dice trays, Line and Veil cards, and much more!
If you like Defiant, please consider subscribing to the new campaign – it really helps! The campaign will also include the option to get the main rulebook, so if you know anyone who might be interested in the game, but has not tried it yet, point them in the direction of the new Kickstarter!
Quite a lot is riding on this, to be honest. We decided to use the campaign as kind of a touchstone or a test if you will. With Reign & Legacy, all the parts of the "main Defiant experience" will be available, and this could be a good moment to start developing new games. But we still have so much stuff to write about in Defiant! If the campaign goes well, we'll stick with Defiant some more, creating more large supplements and introducing new elements (like new Origins, rules on using magic, creating anti-apocalyptic crusades, and such).
I hope that over the last two years, we've done enough to earn your trust and that you enjoy Defiant. Stick with us, and let's continue with this amazing journey!

Side note: This is my second attempt to write this update. The first one got way too long and personal, and I felt I would bore some of you to death with the wall of text. I'm putting it on our Discord, though, so if you're interested in a more in-depth and personal version, you can read it there.
What about the current campaign?
As you may remember, there's still the "Defiant Guide to Bridgewood" supplement that you're entitled to from the last campaign. We will not start the Reign and Legacy Kickstarter until you receive the PDF links. The supplement is kinda ready. I've been sitting on it for quite a while, perhaps because it is the last one in the campaign. I guess it's hard to let go, and I want to leave you with something cool, so I'm still trying to improve it. Sorry about that!
As for the Print-On-Demand versions of the Character Creation Cards and "Defiant Genesis" (the POD supplement consisting of all the mini-supplements from this campaign): they will be available once we finish the whole process with DriveThruRPG. The Genesis layout is ready; it only needs the "Bridgewood Guide part" to be uploaded. The cards are all set. But while the Genesis will probably be ready for you to order (at printing costs) within a month or so, it might take a bit longer with the cards. In order to make them available for you, we first need to order a “test copy" from DriveThruRPG. This makes perfect sense – there might be some problems that will only become apparent after printing. Unfortunately, unlike the books, the cards are only printed in the US, which means that after we order them, we'll have to wait for up to two months until we get them (as we're located in the EU). Hence the long wait. The books are printed in the US and the EU, so Defiant Genesis should reach us way sooner than this.

Defiant Van Heim Tower is here!

After a long wait, we've finally managed to deliver the Defiant Van Heim Tower pdf to you! You should have already received a link with a free copy of the supplement. I'm going to write another, longer update within the next two weeks, as I hope to have the release date of "Defiant Bridgewood Guide" by then. Sorry for the short, and a bit chaotic update. I was doing my best to get the books to you before my two-week holiday. Right now I'm in transit, trying to make sure, everyone got their links while waiting for the luggage. ;-P
On that note - some of you might have received to emails with the link to the supplement. Both will work just fine, it's simply that there was an error during the first attempts and apparently not everyone received their email, so I had to resend them.
Now it's time for a bit of sun, and a lot of writing, cause the "Bridgewood Guide" is the last one on my to-do list, and I have a few ideas about how to make it more fun and interesting.
Oh, I know, I've previously said that Kate was the one working on the next supplement, but she had an excellent idea for a new Defiant-related project, and we decided to reorganize stuff. More on that - later! :-)
